Mission & Vision

URJA-SETU is positioned as a national rural mission platform for clean energy sourcing, village income expansion, employment creation, and district-level economic transformation.

Mission

Build a rural energy transition platform that increases employment, creates new revenue channels, and converts agricultural residue into organized economic value.

URJA-SETU exists to help rural India move from residue burning and fragmented supply chains to structured biomass commerce, village-level aggregation, clean industrial energy sourcing, and a more prosperous circular economy.

Vision

Enable a stronger rural economy that contributes meaningfully to the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

The long-term vision is to make every active district a productive node in India's renewable energy and rural enterprise network, where farmers earn more, youth find dignified work, and village systems become economically resilient.

National Priority

What URJA-SETU is trying to unlock

The initiative is built around livelihoods, local value creation, and scalable clean-energy logistics.

Rural employment creation

Create new livelihoods for farmers, Saathis, transporters, machinery operators, sorting teams, and village entrepreneurs.

Revenue generation for rural India

Turn crop residue into a measurable rural income stream and unlock district-level economic value from waste-to-energy supply chains.

Viksit Bharat 2047 contribution

Support cleaner energy, stronger village economies, and resilient supply systems as part of India's long-term development priorities.

Director, URJA-SETU

Director's Note
India's rural transformation will not be complete unless village economies generate more employment, more enterprise, and more dependable income. URJA-SETU is designed to convert agricultural residue into opportunity: opportunity for farmers to earn, for youth to work, for local logistics to grow, and for industries to source renewable energy responsibly.

Our focus is not only biomass collection. Our deeper focus is rural revenue generation. When we organize biomass supply chains, we activate transport demand, machinery services, aggregation work, village-level coordination, payments, and market linkages. That is how rural India builds stronger local economies.

URJA-SETU aligns with the spirit of Viksit Bharat 2047 by building systems that are productive, green, and inclusive. We want every district to become a center of clean-energy commerce and every participating village to see visible gains in livelihood, dignity, and prosperity.
